LatamList – Kriptos, an Ecuadorian cyber-security startup, raised a $1.25M Pre-Series A (Seed) funding round, bringing the total funding to $1.8M. Buentrip Ventures led the round, with contributions from Techstars, Sixthirty Cyber, Wayra, Compusoluciones Venture, SVlinks Angels, 0bs.mx, and various angel investors.
“Although 2020 was one of the most challenging years worldwide, we are very proud to share this great news. The funding will allow us to continue growing and expanding our technology to more markets,” said Christian Torres, CEO of Kriptos.
Kriptos uses AI technology to help companies locate their most sensitive information and protect it from data leaks and hacking. The platform facilitates data protection through a system of labeling and classifying documents, personal data, credit card data, and more. The startup has helped to classify and protect over 100 million documents for more than 75 companies.
“Cybersecurity is a priority for all companies, regardless of their size or industry. We aim to prevent data leaks for companies, an issue that is even more relevant with remote work,” said Alfonso Villaba, COO of Kriptos.
The startup is looking to strengthen its position in Mexico, one of the strongest markets in the region.
