LatamList – Awake Travel, a Colombian eco-tourism platform, raised a $500K seed investment round led by Grupo Bancolombia and Fondo Acción.
Awake Travel is an online booking platform for unique, eco-friendly trips in Colombia. The platform connects tourists with local guides who provide a unique travel experience that also protects the planet.
Awake Travel has connections with over 150 local guides in more than 60 locations across Colombia. The company has already helped 5,000 tourists experience Colombia.
Despite global travel restrictions, the company expects to generate monthly sales of over $300K as of next January. In fact, Awake Travel says that due to COVID-19, customers are more likely to avoid major destinations and choose remote, local trips instead.
Awake Travel will use the investment to develop its booking platform and to further deepen its network of tour providers and guides.
