LatAm List – Yuca, the Brazilian proptech that is solving the housing crisis in megacities, raised a $4.7M (R$20M) Series A round led by Monashees, with contribution from ONEVC and Creditas.
The sheer size of Brazil’s cities has resulted in longer commutes for employees each day, resulting in less sleep and lower productivity during the day. Inspired by the Chinese startup Ziroom, Yuca provides affordable, co-living spaces to young professionals between 20 and 35 years who want to live and work in cities such as São Paulo.
“Living in São Paulo is becoming more and more impossible,” said Eduardo Campo, CEO and co-founder of Yuca. “Yuca is the answer to this problem for Millennials in the city who are marrying later and change their jobs more frequently”.
The startup currently has 21 apartments with 80 students and expects to increase this to 500 apartments over the next year.
