LatamList – Protera, a Chilean foodtech, raised a $10M Series A funding round led by Sofinnova Partners. Bimbo, one of the worldâs leading food producers, also contributed to the round alongside ICL Planet.
Protera uses next-generation ingredient development to make safe, sustainable, and affordable protein-based food ingredients to address the worldâs ethical, environmental, and consumer challenges.
With biotechnology, Protera is able to identify proteins in existing foods, such as fungi, and harness them to make new protein-based ingredients that are more affordable and more sustainable. Protera Guard is specifically aimed to extend the long-term shelf life of foods.

Protera currently operates in Chile, the US, and France. The startup will use the new funding to accelerate the growth of Protera Guard.
