Come Bien raises $1.2M seed round for ‘dark kitchens’ in Mexico

LatamListCome Bien, a Mexican foodtech, raised a $1.2M seed round led by the GAM-SWT group and 500 Startups.

The startup experienced a huge increase in demand during the global pandemic, averaging 1,000 daily orders across 50 businesses in Mexico City. With the funding, the startup aims to scale up to taking 10,000 daily orders and increase the available food choices.

“We are a 100% integrated platform, meaning that we process the orders, cook the food, and manage the delivery ourselves. We use a hub-and-spoke model in the city and technology in software and production, which made it much easier to pivot to a new model when COVID-19 hit. We began showing an increase in orders and doubled our revenue for the first time,” said Denis Cantú, co-founder of Come Bien.

Businesses and individuals will be able to purchase a subscription service for daily food deliveries from a range of healthy foods developed by co-founder Evandro Cantú, who studied culinary skills in Paris.

Come Bien aims to be the largest dark kitchen network in Mexico. The startup expects the kitchen to be ready for operation in May 2021.
