Credijusto becomes first Mexican fintech to acquire a bank

LatamListCredijusto, Mexico’s leading lending platform, announced the acquisition of Banco Finterra, a Mexico City-based bank. Credijusto is the first Mexican fintech to acquire a regulated bank.

Credijusto focuses on serving the underserved SMEs in Mexico. Banco Finterra specializes in financing solutions for SMEs in the agriculture sector.

The new acquisition allows Credijusto to further diversify its product offering, focusing particularly on serving small and medium-sized businesses. The company is now positioned to become the leading financial service provider to SMEs in Mexico, as well as a leader in cross-border banking solutions with the U.S.

“Our acquisition of Banco Finterra creates the first truly digital banking platform for Mexican SMEs,” said Allan Apoj, co-CEO of Credijusto.

Combined, the two companies have lent over $2B to SMEs. Credijusto has raised over $400M in equity and debt funding from leading global investors.
