FanDuel founder launches new startup for football fans, Draftea

Alán Jaime Misrahi, professional footballer and entrepreneur, announced the launch of his new company Draftea. The startup calls itself “the first daily fantasy sports company in Latin America”.

Draftea is an app for football fans. Customers can partake in fantasy football games with the chance to win daily cash prizes.

“Draftea is a first-of-its-kind community for sports fans in LatAm where they can become the protagonist in their favourite game,” said Konstantine Buhler, Partner at Sequoia Capital.

Although still in beta mode, the startup announced its launch on the back of a $13.2M fundraiser led by Kaszek Ventures with participation from Sequoia Capital, Bullpen Capital, and angel investor Nigel Eccles.

The platform aims to entice the more than 350 million sports fans in Latin America. While Draftea currently only offers fantasy football, the platform plans to expand to host fantasy games for “every single sport in the world”.
