PRoduce, a Puerto Rican groceries service, raised a $1.8M funding round led by Semillero Partners, a local investment fund.
PRoduce is a digital grocery marketplace that connects local, small farmers with customers. The platform delivers a large variety of fresh produce, island-wide from local farmers, fishermen, coffee collectors, and artisanal producers.
“PRoduce was born due to the need to connect food producers with buyers in a convenient way. Even though the island imports 85% of what we eat, PRoduce already buys from more than 600 local producers,” said Crystal Díaz, co-founder of the company.
The startup saw a 1500% growth over the pandemic, demonstrating the growing demand for more sustainable, local products.
PRoduce will use the new funding to make new hires, specifically in executive and business development positions, and to strengthen the company’s position as the leading digital shop in Puerto Rico.
