Siemens and Amazon bring IoT monitoring to Monterrey factory

El Economista reports that German manufacturer Siemens has partnered with Amazon Web Services to pilot an IoT-connected monitoring system for a factory in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The program they are testing is called MindSphere, which allows machines to communicate with applications to help factories run more smoothly and productively.

The program was originally presented at an innovation fair in Hannover, Germany last April. This pilot is considered the first step to bringing technology to the Siemens factory in Mexico, which has over 600 employees. Siemens wants this factory to become a model for the region.

Said Jair Mexía, director of Large Drives and leader of the digitalization of Siemens Mexico and Central America:

“At Siemens we are focused on digitalizing our plants to make them our Mexican production more efficient and competitive on the global market. We are finishing the pilot tests to monitor product testing in real time.”

This test may open the Mexican manufacturing market to bringing more predictive monitoring into factories to improve the efficiency of Mexican production.
