Yummy raises $4M to become Venezuelan ‘super-app’

LatamListYummy, a Venezuelan food delivery app, raised a $4M funding round from Y Combinator, Justin Mateen, Canary, Hustle Fund, Necessary Ventures, and the co-founders of TaskUs.

Yummy is the first food delivery app in Venezuela and is completely free. The app expanded into other verticals including grocery, pharmacy, shopping, and ride-sharing and is receiving more than 70,000 monthly orders.

“Yummy has quickly become the No.1 super app in Venezuela and proven that the team can scale the business in a difficult territory,” said Mateen, co-founder of Tinder.

The startup reached $1M in monthly gross merchandise volume and grew 38% in revenue each month. Yummy is now available in five of Venezuela’s major cities and plans to expand into other countries in the region.
