LatamList – Zenda.la, a health insurtech, launched in Mexico to bring health insurance to the estimated 20 million Mexicans without. After more than a year in development, the startup is launching during the COVID-19 pandemic. They previously secured pre-seed investment from G2 Momentum Capital and, more recently, funding from Angel Ventures Mexico.
Zenda.la offers a basic free insurance plan free of charge, and a premium cover for only $4.3 per month (MXN$99). The plans cover everything from basic illness to more complex surgeries.
“Our platform offers an experience that challenges the way you think about your personal finances, your health and – above all – the support network you need to have to overcome anything that life may bring you. Each of us has different challenges and our coverage responds accordingly,” commented Diego Muradás, co-founder of Zenda.la.
Muradás has previous experience in the fintech ecosystem from working with Cohete and Cashy, two Mexican credit platforms. The other founders include Rafael Verduzco, Raúl Morales, Eva Sander, and Mario Aguillón.
“We believe it is important to invest in companies such as Zenda.la which change the way of looking at traditional insurance and have the well-being of people in our country at heart. They offer a product that provides insurance solutions and seeks to support their clients in times of crisis,” said Hernán Fernández Lamadrid, Co-Managing Partner of Angel Ventures México.
