hugo acquires Venezuelan food delivery app Yummy

LatamListhugo, the Caribbean SuperApp, acquired Yummy, the first Venezuelan food delivery app. Yummy will expand its coverage across Venezuela and consolidate its presence in the country in conjunction with hugo.

Yummy is the leading platform and marketplace in Venezuela, and is currently the most downloaded app in its sector. The platform has more than 200 merchants, including restaurants, convenience stores, and a pharmacy chain. Together with their fleet of over 250 drivers, the platform delivers to Caracas, Valencia, LecherĆa, and Barquisimeto.

ā€œThis partnership with hugo will allow us to expand into every vertical we can dream of and bring the concept of a SuperApp back home, in addition to empowering us to grow even faster than weā€™ve accomplished to date,ā€ said Vicente Zavarce, CEO and co-founder of Yummy.

hugo is the leading marketplace app in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Founded in 2017, the SuperApp aims to become the most complete delivery service in Latin America and currently has over 900,000 users and 7,000 connected merchants.

ā€œThis acquisition will ultimately allow us to keep providing great services and the best support to Venezuelan merchants in the streets where we grew up,ā€ Zavarce continued.

Yummy will adopt hugoā€™s proprietary technology, enabling them to expand into new verticals beyond food delivery and become the first SuperApp in Venezuela. The acquisition will be finalized between both companies in the coming weeks.
