iFood joins forces with Delivery Hero’s Domicilios.com in Colombia to shake up the food delivery market

LatAm ListiFood, Brazil’s leading foodtech startup, and Delivery Hero, parent company to Domicilios.com, recently announced a partnership to help grow the online food delivery ecosystem in Colombia. By combining operations, they will have the largest geographic presence in Colombia with more than 12,000 restaurants in more than 30 cities across the country.

“In addition to geographic leadership, we will be bringing our world-class expertise in technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance the experience on Domicilios.com for consumers, restaurants, and delivery partners,” said Fabricio Bloisi, CEO of iFood.

iFood will hold a majority stake in the combined entity and will focus its efforts on increasing the capacity of operations.

“Not only will [the partnership] give us great exposure to one of the most attractive on-demand delivery markets globally and one of the strongest markets in Latin America;  but in joining forces with iFood, we will also welcome excellent operational knowledge that will help us to drive and expand our services in Colombia. We look forward to sharing know-how and continue investing in local solutions with a global impact,” said Niklas Östberg, co-founder and CEO of Delivery Hero.

The partnership will significantly increase business in Colombia’s food delivery ecosystem and provide consumers with a larger and more complete offering of products and services.

iFood processes more than 26 million orders each month and operates in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.

Although headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Delivery Hero operates in over 530 cities across Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa.
