Simpleat raises $600K funding round for Mexico expansion

LatamListSimpleat, an Argentine foodtech, raised a $600K funding round from various investors including Glocal AgriFoodTech, Alaya Capital, and NOA Capital. Several private investors also participated in the round; Guilherme Bonifacio and Diego Libanio, co-founders of MercĂȘ do Bairro, iFood, and ZeDelivery. 

Simpleat is a foodtech that specializes in frozen meals for delivery and collection. Customers can choose from over 40 healthy, homemade, frozen meals on the app which will be ready within 15 minutes of completing the order.

All of Simpleat’s meals are designed by chefs and nutritionists, with options for specific dietary requirements. The startup will also launch a plant-based line soon. 

“The support from both international and local investors shows us that we are on the right track with our innovative solution that can meet the everyday needs of citizens. We are changing the food delivery market with our healthy, affordable, and delicious meals, available at any time,” said Tomás Iakub, co-founder and CEO of Simpleat.

Simpleat will use the funding to consolidate its presence in Mexico by expanding its team. The startup also forecasts a launch into Chile in February 2021.
